Yummi food on the run (GIVE AWAY)

Now that Bo is so mobile (read: runs loose at any chance she gets) we are out of the house a lot more. Days at the park, down at the beach and by the pool or just roaming the streets escaping the heat in libraries, galleries and cafes are a must for both of our sanity.

And although we love our baby trail mix and take it with us everywhere…. sometimes we need something a little more. And that’s where Yummi Pouches come in. These environmentally friendly products make transporting yoghurt, soups, and other yummy treats easy. Easy to fill, easy to clean (and dishwasher friendly!) and most importantly really easy for self-feeding babies like Bo to enjoy a treat independently, I can’t fault the product. It’s great and now you can find these pouches in our bag packed with fresh home made treats every day.

What’s even greater?

We have two packs (each with six pouches) to give away. Two winners this week!

How to enter?

Comment on this post with what your little would LOVE to taste in the pouch (bonus points for quick easy recipes!)… Extra entries go for liking Inked in Colour on FB and liking Yummi Pouches on FB too. As always competition will be open for ONE WEEK. You’ve got to be in it to win it!

Nothing better than food on the run. We’ve got places to be, don’t you?

Angela - Such a neat idea! I make fruit smoothies for my daughter in a cup with a straw, and she spills it every time! I love that this would be clean spill proof! Plus nothing would go to waste because of the suction function.

My little one would love to drink strawberry and mango shakes out of these. Here are a couple of my own recipes:

    Strawberry Shake:
2 cups milk (substitute soy, almond or coconut milk for a dairy-free version)
    1 banana
    2 cups frozen strawberries
1/4 cup honey (you can add more or less according to your preference)

In a blender, add the milk and banana. Blend till smooth. Now add the frozen strawberries and honey, then blend until smooth and creamy! Poor into your Yummi Pouches and enjoy! 🙂

*For a Mango shake, just substitute the frozen strawberries with frozen mangos. You can get very creative with this recipe and use any favorite frozen fruit!ReplyCancel

Lilybett - I do a tasty soup that Dear Boy loves. It’d work really well in one of these, either warm or cold. It’s not super-quick but really easy.

    Roasted pumpkin and carrot soup:
Roast butternut pumpkin and a stack of carrot (all peeled and cubed) in the oven around 180-ish for 30-60 minutes depending on how much you’ve made and how big the chunks are. Put some salt-reduced or homemade stock in a pot and then chuck in the veg. Whiz up (I use a stab blender). Can be thick or thin depending on how much stock/water you put in.

    Optional:
*roast the veg with some cumin
*saute some onion or garlic in the pot before you add the stock
*swirl through some pesto (ONLY if bub is okay with nuts) or sour cream or both.

The roasting makes the veg lovely and sweet and it’s an easy way to get lots of veg in. Good for the parents too, especially with crusty bread.ReplyCancel

Yvette - I have been wanting to get some of these for AGES, I hate the idea of disposable yoghurt pouches (hate the idea of disposable anything really). I’d use them for both my baby twins, and for my 4 year old who is in kinder.
    Home made yoghurt
    Home made purees
Would start making smoothies so all three of them could have something nutritious and filling (my 4 yo doesn’t like smoothies, but I’d love to get some fruit and wheatgerm into her) when we’re out. Saves me from hearing a chorus of “can we get icecream/muffins/lollies/babycino/cupcake/gingerbreadman” after they’ve finished their rice crackers on our outings.ReplyCancel

Carla - I would definitely be doing some varieties of applesauce as my son loves all the ‘flavors’ out there… strawberry, carrot, peach, etc. Just boil apples and whatever else with a little water and then puree. So easy and would love to transport it in these pouches and not have to have a spoon!ReplyCancel

Rachel - This is brilliant! I was just telling my mum how I wished I could invent these…guess someone beat me too it.
There are so many things that these are brilliant for but perhaps the best recipe (in my opinion) would be the layed maqui berry chia puddings. This is the basic recipe but its so versatile that you can change it all you like! My two year old is partial to chocolate chia pudding 🙂

Karen Harris - So funny – literally the day before I read this post, I saw these pouches for the first time and thought they would be so great to have! Especially for no-mess food on the go. My little man’s favourite breakfast would work well, pureed:

    yougurt (1/4 cup)
    blueberries (10-15)
    quinoa/oatmeal (1-2 Tbsp cooked)
    flax (sprinkle)

Thanks so much for the opportunity! (have liked Inked and Yummi on FB as well)ReplyCancel

heidi - We love making Easy Green smoothies with whatever we have on hand that day.
    a few key ingredients
1.a few handfuls of Spinach or Kale
    2.A banana or 2
    3. any fruit you want.
sometimes its a leftover 1/2 pear or leftover strawberries or blueberries and mango from the freezer(a 1/4cup or so) pretty much anything you dont want to waist cause your kido wont eat it plain. I usually just blend it all in the bullet ($50 at Meijer-Ive had mine 2yrs) and put it in a container and when needed..fill the pouch with 2 big round spoons of plain whole milk yogurt(Stoneyfield) and then a few spoonfulls of the green fruit mix. mix well and serve:) I only have one pouch so i have to refill daily but im sure you can make more ahead if you had them.ReplyCancel
