With the beginning of March brings the official end of summer. But Australia rarely gets the message. It’s hot. Hot. Hot. The grass under our feet is dry and dead. The sky is the most incredible blue and the air is as thick as soup. My guess is we have a few more weeks of summer yet… but even so, I’m getting excited for warm shoes and tights and beanies and hot cups of tea and jumping in puddles with my little Bo. It’s been three years (more?) since I had a real winter (although for you friends up in the North of this great world… our winters really don’t compare… they are very, very mild) and it’s Bo’s very first one… so I’m looking forward to it!
What have you been up to this week? What have you done that made your heart sing?
Me? I spent some time with my family up in the city. We went to open air concerts and a rally for an excellent cause. We spent time playing in the sunshine and eating from food vans. We laughed a lot. The kids played together happily for the first time ever. All was good. Then we came back home to the usual bump and grind that I’m so glad we are about to escape again. I’ve never been very good at this monotony thing… It’s a real drag with a long to-do list and not a lot of stimulation and a gorgeous little gremlin who has given up sleep (AGAIN). I’m not good at staying in one place. I’m not very good at accepting the every day drag laying down. So instead of laying down, we are going to pack a bag and hit the road again for a while, just Bo and I. Go visit some new friends. Taste some new food. Rejuvenate the bored soul. Make a little magic happen. Or you know… go a little more crazy… but at least it’ll be going crazy in good company.
This weekend? We are just taking it easy (and by easy I mean… work… work… work… but probably in pajamas). We have a big week ahead of us with my first week back at Uni and then boarding a plane to the other side of the country for three weeks of crazy living. And a run in with the husband is imminent. So that will be… I’m not sure. I’m hoping for the best. Positive thoughts breed positive moments… or something like that. Maybe not. Maybe just positive thoughts are less likely to end in self-destruction? Yes… that’ll do.
Have an absolutely glorious weekend friends! Find a little sunshine and a little peace and a whole lot of love.
Have you entered the awesome give-away we have running at the moment courtesy of Yummi Pouches. Could you find a use for planet-friendly reusable food pouches for your little kiddo? Get on it! Give-away closes on Sunday!
