Coming from Australia and living in the hot tropical sun of Indonesia, I’m all about sun protection. Love it. Can’t get enough of it. You may have noticed I’m super white. Part of that is genetics the other part is that I don’t lay in the sun… I think tanned skin is gorgeous but cancer just isn’t my thing, you know what I mean? Bo is lucky, she has that natural sun kissed look as soon as she steps out doors – it’s that beautiful brown Indonesian gene that she is so blessed to have… her little toes and fingers are already shades darker than they were when she was born. But when we go out she’s always fully covered up with clothes and/or sunscreen to protect her from those harsh rays…

PIN IT PIN ITI have been on the look out for an awesome baby hat for ages. The ones you find in those generic baby stores make me want to puke a bit. I don’t like them one bit. We have used them, cos a little bit dorky (and BORING!) is better than burnt… but then Colette came along and saved Bo from being THAT kid, with THAT mother who makes her wear THAT hat. UB2 bonnets, are all kinds of awesome.

This little bonnet is so beautifully made – I couldn’t fault it even if I wanted it, it’s perfect. I can’t express how much I love handmade clothing and gifts for everyone, especially for babies – Down with the mass produced, every baby has the same thing – and up with the one of a kind, unique, hand created beauties! UB2 bonnets are lovingly designed by Colette, a gorgeous American mama who loves her art with such a passion it’s hard not to get excited just chatting to her about it! The bonnets are all handmade by a small team of awesome ladies… they also make GORGEOUS dresses… Bo might need one for her first birthday next year. No sweat shops, totally fair trade, completely eco-friendly and absolutely gorgeous. I mean really, what more could you want?

When you have a baby there seems to be no end to the amount of crap that you get in your life… even when you are like us and you try to keep it to a bare minimum. We can fit all of Bo’s belongings into three medium sized boxes, and it’s still more than we truly need. This is one of those items that we will put away as a real heirloom – and wonderful reminder of the hipster era she was born into – to be passed on to Bo so that she can give it to her own daughter one day. Did I say how much I love this bonnet? Did you see the mustaches all over it? I let Ni choose it… and this is what we got… I love it.
