When the light is at its softest, it casts its longest and deepest shadows. I love the light, its warmth and its magic, its power and its life… but again and again I am drawn back to the shadow. The soft light of dawn breaking through the darkness, creating patterns on the earth with the shadows of everything that grows there. As if a slow breath of air, brings it all back to life.

At the end of the day, the light slowly seeps out of the air and shadows become longer as the light disappears. Slowly, slowly and then all at once. It’s beautiful to watch. Knowing that soon it will change again. Darkness is only ever temporary. As is light. It comes. It goes. It changes. Always.

The pursuit of happiness is perhaps the greatest adventure of all. To learn to let go of pain and expectations and to live right here, in the very moment you are in, is perhaps one of the greatest tests of our modern world. But the greatest challenges have the greatest rewards. The liberation to have the time to listen to yourself is a powerful thing. The time to see both the light and the shadow. The time to watch it change. There is great beauty in the darkness, because it’s always fleeting. As the light moves, so do the shadows. In both the day and the heart…
