It has been a tragic week in our village. Our collective world, and my own personal world, have been rocked by the loss of one of the closest friends I’ve known in my lifetime. Instead of dwelling on the pain, I’ve been trying to find the beauty in our every day life, a life that I shared with this friend over the past three years, a life that was ours, that is now at times mine alone. The beauty of the village that drew us both in, that dropped a metaphorical net over us and that held us here, captivated by its charm.
I’m glad that Bo’s youth spares her from the pain of loss, and grateful for the joy her little fingers, cheeky smile and outgoing shouts give not only to me but to my husband and our friends during this sad time. She has been quite the charmer, her gentle soul soothing many a teary face and bringing laughter into all of our worlds.
This place has been home to myself, a select few other expats and a lifetime of beautiful Indonesian generations… the newest of which Bo is a very proud member of. So, whilst we reel over our own loss, and search for the beauty in the wind… I thought I might share with you some of my most treasured photographs of this beautiful place. Earlier this year my external hard drive was stolen, along with it some of my most loved photographic memories, so the ones that I still have are more precious than ever.
I hope your life is filled with love, light and colour this week.
