This small town life…

We are one week closer. With less than two weeks to go now we are racing towards our family union faster and faster. And thank god for that. It has been a bloody long two months doing this solo mama gig. I have an incredible respect for single mamas, I don’t know how you do it. 24/7 with very little adult conversation or contact… it’s hard work. You are amazing.

We’ve been focusing a lot on sleep this week and we are definitely making progress. It took one book, recommended by a dear friend, to bring me around. The book is not a book on how to get a baby to sleep. But it was a book that reminded me to trust y instincts and to stop listening to all of the *helpful* advice that every tom, dick and harry is dishing out. Because all of that advice, as well meaning as it is, is not at all helpful. Because all of the advice is not my instinct and it’s not tailored to my child. It’s just someone elses opinion and whilst opinions are greatly valued in my world… when it comes to the well being of my little girl – my instinct trumps all. I’m terrified I’m going to jinx our progress though so I won’t get ahead of myself. I am writing this at 11pm and yes I do in fact have a little creature climbing on the keyboard… but that’s beside the point.

Thank you for your patience with the blog upgrade. I understand that some of you have seen the blog in some pretty weird states over the past 48 hours. I’ve been editing and upgrading and unfortunately I only get the time to do this during the nap periods, which are more regular but still sporadic. We should be all done sometime early next week with a prettier blog that is easier to navigate. So hang in there!

Our beautiful Bo is still working on that first tooth. It’s little tiny white point is sticking out but there is a long way to go. I watched this week as she discovered a fly for the very first time and had a ball crawling around the room and pouncing on it in an attempt to trap it between her chubby little fingers. It’s evasive tactics fueled both her determination and her curiosity. I have so much to learn from this little being… the joy in the little things! A bowl of water, a swing set, a strawberry in a shopping cart, a theme song to a recognisable tune, a first dance, a blowfly… the little things that make Bo smile.
