Why, hello again Friday…

Bo and I are in Perth this cold wintery Friday. We’ve had a fun week (with no more school work!) and I’m finding my groove more and more. I’ve made some final decisions about my relationship (I know, I know) and taken the necessary steps to move forwards. I’ve applied for an actual job, whihc is pretty intense, seeing as I’ve been working solely for myself for the past five years… but I’m looking for reasons to put down roots, and I was forwarded an interesting job by a psychiatrist (the world works in mysterious ways) so I’m applying. It’s a job that actually uses my training and education, which is a bit weird for me, because whilst I use what I’ve learned in my every day life I have never, not once, been employed in my industry of choice. We’ll see. I’ve put it out there and I’m just seeing where the world takes us.

In the past week a whole lot of things have turned around. One of my articles was published on a very popular national website here in Australia so that’s brought a bit of new interest and some lovely new readers to the blog, which is always fun. New people bring new inspiration and new conversations and opinions, which is all fabulous for all of us.

We have an exciting overseas adventure coming up that was offered by my beautiful grandfather out of the blue. So a seemingly empty rest-of-the-year has now been filled with work conferences and potential jobs and overseas adventures and lots and lots of good stuff. I’m excited. What do you have planned for the rest of 2013? Are you as shocked as I am that we are HALF WAY THROUGH THE YEAR ALREADY?

I’m working on the very beginnings of what I’m hoping is going to be a really exciting collaborative project. But to get it off the ground I need YOUR help. Do you know someone who is living a less than ordinary life? Something out of the box? Is it you?! Is it a blog you read? Is it your next door neighbour? I’d love it if you know (or know of) someone who is living an uncommon life to nominate them to be a part of an exciting project. The basis of the project is to celebrate life out-of-the-box… Do you know someone who fits the bill? You can comment here and let me know or send me an email at sash@inkedincolour.com.

Next week the blog might be down for a day or two as I install a whole new design which I’ve very excited about. So if you come to find us and we aren’t here… don’t worry, we’ll be back! Hopefully the install and changes will be made quickly and most of you won’t even know it is happening.

The winner of the winter warmer give-away has been announced. Go and check out that post to see if it was you! PIN ITHappy weekend friends! Hope yours is as full of love and laughter and family (and sisters!) as mine will be.

Cath - Check out Jordana’s blog – My Meandering Trail. She upped-sticks to hike the Appalachian Trail in the US, which I think is pretty cool.
Your own story is pretty cool too 😉ReplyCancel

Jenn - I cannot wait for you and Bo to arrive! I’ve been having the toughest few months of my life – not knowing how to get out of the ‘funk’ I’ve been in, not knowing where my career is leading and really just questioning myself in general (thankfully I have an amazing man supporting my every step) AND then I woke up to am email one morning at 4am that read ‘I’m coming to visit in a few short months’!!! Yay!!!

We are sooo excited!! The countdown is on 😉

Sash, you are one of my bestest friends and you are such an inspirational woman and you are an even more amazing mother – keep doing what your doing! I love you xo

(P.s. a close friend of mine is living this so-called life out-of-the-box. She and her husband recently sold their house (in my neighbourhood) to move into the ghetto with her husband and 2 year old son. This comes with research and projects and is really an experiment to see how she, a working mother can influence those around her. It is a very inspirational story and let me tell you, she is one brave girl – giving it all up to try and help others, while finding common goals and/or objectives! Absolutely amazing – I will forward her personal email to you (once I let her know!) YOU will be amazed!!!

Love you tons…let the countdown begin 12ish weeks and counting!! xoxoxoReplyCancel

Sommer - I’ve been sitting here debating whether I should post – I mean, everyone’s life is unique right? I’m not so sure mine is anymore exceptional, but I feel like it is for me. I spent my early 20s dodging responsibility and traveling/living abroad. 28 hit, my oats were sewn so I decided to slow down, get a “real” job. Oh how working 9-5 SUCKED, especially behind a computer. So with my sweaty brow drenched in self-doubt, I took the plunge and chased after what I loved to moonlight as: teaching Pilates. I was poor for a couple years (couch surfing, no car, peanut butter sandwiches) but worked hard at some studios around the world. Cut to almost 10 years and I own my own studio in Washington DC with my hubs (he manages, I teach). My goal is to create world peace through Pilates! I love this life. It’s not easy and I still have days/weeks filled with self doubt, but it’s great to own my own business, work with my mate, and not be on a computer.ReplyCancel

Sash - Wonderful Sommer! Thanks so much for telling your story. When I get the pitch for my new project up and running (hoping for within the next fortnight)… I’ll send you an email. xoReplyCancel
