This life

This week we have been finding our way in so many wonderful positive changes. I’ve had two full days finding my feet in a new job and Bo has done two full days at daycare. We’ve juggled nap-less days and boxes and cold, cold winter nights. We are adjusting to the change and I am slowly adjusting to the freedom and the incredible sense of responsibility that comes from being completely and utterly the only adult responsible for a household. It’s wonderful and liberating and intense all at once, isn’t it?

My beautiful friend arrived the night we moved in (after helping me unpack the truck, driven and supplied by her father) with take away chinese food and a bottle of sparkling. We sat with the kids in a cold living room filled with boxes, and had a picnic on the floor. I’ll be forever grateful for her beautiful spirit and her generosity of time and love and warmth and parents. Before I got the kitchen unpacked Bo and I drank warm drinks from jars and peanut butter spread on bread with fingers. It was like camping indoors, just the two of us.

I’ve unpacked all our boxes now and whilst we still have lots of gaps in the house where things will one-day go, for now we are settled. Bo’s room is friendly and fun and mine is bright and light and comfortable. I even have a study now, which is so exciting for me. A place to juggle my writing clients and my study and this little blog, space to lay out my ideas and find new inspirations. I’m so excited to get the space really functional so I can get my new projects up and running. There is so much silence around us now that we are in our own space, and whilst at times it feels cold and lonely, mostly it just feels bright and light and I’m really excited to see what comes next for us. I learned how to light a fire last night, and for the first time the house didn’t feel so lonely at night. It was just me, my computer and a crackling flame and the silence was beautiful.

There is a whole world of possibility out there and I’m hoping to bring you a full week of blogs next week full of interesting new ideas, great new recipes and a little peek inside our new space.

Whilst I take a moment to step back and have a look at not only this blog but my life in general I’d love to know what you love to see in this space. What do you love? What would you like to see more of? Are there issues that you wish were being addressed? Is there something you’d like to see less of?

Have a beautiful weekend friends, you deserve it.

Lila - I honestly love everything you do Sash (sorry to sound all fan girl) you have such an honest space and that is what keeps me coming here. I never feel too different or alienated by you even on topics that our opinions differ.
Good luck with settling in, when I moved out on my own with my older two it was that intense and amazing time and it was absolutely wonderful. You’re going to rock it like you do everything.ReplyCancel

Rochelle O'Brien (Roshi) - I agre with Lila -I’m such a huge fan-girl -I acually can’t get enough of your blog Sash, keep everything up! I love everything you write, I love the passionate way you address important issues, the way they challenge my thinking. I spend days after reading some of your posts with major inner debate going on – and I love that! I’m really into your recipes to, I’m about to try a green smoothie with kale and kiwi and lime and stuff, and bought Chia and almond milk ready to make the chia pudding for tomoorrow’s breakfast. Most of all though. I relate. So heavily, to every single thing you write on your blog. It’s so much more than just a blog. It’s inspiration. It reaches out to me when I’m lonely in this house with just me and my babies. Even though I have a partner. It understands me. I can see you one day, ridiculously successful, with your own breed of recipe books and children’s book (with a wordly difference steeped in being respectful of diversity) and your own novels and your whole blog printed out and published! and I can see you making a huge difference in the lives of women and their babies who struggle in different parts of their lives. YOU are amazing! You are throwing all your love and joy, heartache and pain and sorrow and hope into your life and just look at the huge sparkling light you are creating! Probably sounds completely crazy, sorry if that’s the case!ReplyCancel

Julie - And I thought I had the only kid who licked the glass. Cannot tell you what to change or what not to change, because the whole reason why I like this blog is your authentic voice. By telling you what to change I gear I would be telling you to change your voice,ReplyCancel
