Good Food: The Green Smoothie Diaries.

I’ve fallen in love with Green smoothies. I love them, I love to drink them, I love how good they are for me and I love LOVE that Bo loves them too. There is lots of info online about green smoothies and heaps of recipes and great how-to’s and combo suggestions.

This is our current go-to every day breakfast smoothie. Paired with poached eggs on grainy toast and it’s a perfect start for both of our days. Bo loves it so much she shrieks at me pointing at the smoothie until I hand it to her. Which then she drinks in big gulps, stopping in between each to give her satisfactory “aahhhh” to ensure I know she is truly enjoying it. Little nut that she is.

I freeze all of the fruit and the veg for this smoothie. I find that adding the fruit frozen makes the smoothie nice and cold and fresh. Either way, it’s super tasty and a really gentle way to start drinking a portion of greens… which to some people seems a bit odd. I’ll introduce you to some different ones in a few weeks. But for now, the right-now favourite (remember i never measure anything so the measurements are a bit vague- just make it to your taste – more fruit for a sweeter flavour – no sugar/sweetener necessary).

The “Every-day” Green Smoothie.

– Three huge handfuls of baby spinach
– One or two bananas
– One mango cheek
– A couple of spoonfuls of Homemade Yoghurt (or plain store bought yoghurt – or even better Kefir)
– A good splash of Milk (Can be almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk… whatever takes your fancy)

Simple. Blend it up until it’s an awesome bright green colour with no lumpy bits.

Enjoy cold! Good food, the easy way.

Bella Mills - So… I whipped up your smoothie on Tuesday. Mum and grandma came to visit on Wednesday and I made it for them again. Friday morning rolled around today and I made a slightly different version and blogged about it. Your delicious green smoothie was too good not to share with my friends. I’ve linked back to you in my post. Thank you for your positive attitude towards the obstacles in your life and your healthy recipe. You’re an inspiration.
