Fall

1PIN ITFall. The warm summer air fades and slowly cool nights replace warm. When the sun hits our face it still smells like summer, but the cool damp air in the shade already has a hint of snow. There is something quite spectacular in the change of season in the Northern Hemisphere. Growing up in Australia I always craved the clear change in season that I experienced on my trips here, that I saw on movies where kids wrapped themselves in striped scarves and hats with pom poms and rode yellow school buses to school. When we landed in Canada it still felt like summer. It was warm and sunny and I had no use for all of the woolens that I packed. There were no tell tale signs of fall at all.

Then something changed.

The leaves began to change their colours and we headed out to find the things that I remember from my own childhood, the beautiful fall seasons I spent here with my family. The fallen leaves and the pumpkin fields, hot apple cider and thanksgiving dinner, the fields of corn and the tart taste of an apple picked straight from the tree, the hay bale rides and the corn mazes. It’s amazing to get to share some of these things with my own baby girl… memories are made of this.
